Welcome to the Riding Club's Website

We are a friendly, sociable club that invites ANYONE with an interest in horses and riding to come along and get involved. Catering for all abilities from Beginner to Advanced, the University of Manchester Equestrian Club offers the chance to establish and develop good horsemanship whilst developing riding ability. Based at John Shaw Equestrian Riding School, owned by National show jumper John Shaw, we receive excellent instruction in a variation of disciplines from show jumping and dressage through to happy hacking in the local countryside.

Not only does the club provide weekly instruction but alongisde the many social events arranged outside of the yard, there is also the opportunity to compete for the more advanced rider within the BUCS team and annually as part of the clubs Easter show.

Riding lessons take place every Wednesday at John Shaw Equestrian in Urmston. All our lessons are either half an hour at £12 or an hour at £20. Travel is by the number 15 bus (from outside the Stopford building) or by available spaces in the club members cars. We also have hacks every Thursday and if you are interested in these then contact Fiona House for more information.
